I went back to school to recieve my Integrative Nutrition Health Coach certification, because I was so tired of living this burnt-out, exhausted all-the-time lifestyle. I knew I needed a change, and so I did it.

Fast forward to today, I am so grateful that I had the courage to do this. I spent too many years living on autopilot. Too many years feeling like I didn’t have enough energy to get through my days. I was battling deep depression and daily anxiety. And I was stuck in survival mode.

But when I began to transition to a healthier diet, everything changed. This is was the light at the end of my tunnel. And I was so grateful to have finally found it.

Everyday brought more hope, more excitement, and more ease. I was able to take control of the food choices I was making. My husband felt better than he had in years due to changing our diet, and so did I.

Eating real food isn’t about perfection, it’s about a realistic approach that’s practical for families. Now, I’ve made it my career to help other women get to this place in their lives as well.

I believe that food affects every aspect of our lives. The food we eat will affect our emotions, our energy levels, our immune system, and our digestion. The right foods can change your mood and make you feel happier and kinder. The wrong foods can cause bloating, indigestion, anxiety and bad moods.

It’s the foundation for everything we do. And as moms, we are the glue that holds our family together - It’s up to us to teach proper nutrition to our children, our spouses, and other loved ones.

  • DITCHING PROCESSED FOODS: I believe that our society has a processed food problem. It’s everywhere. We use it as a quick fix to get through our busy days. We feed it endlessly to our children. And this comes with a high cost to our overall health.

  • EATING MORE REAL FOOD: Real food is the food that has been around forever. Imagine what your great great grandmother was eating and making. She was probably growing her own vegetables in her garden, canning and fermenting foods to preserve them. She didn’t have access to large amounts of sweets like we do, and if she did, it was rare and usually a special occasion. Real food is the solution to the processed food problem we’re facing.

  • WE ARE EATING TOO MUCH SUGAR: Sugar can be found in almost every packaged food that we are eating today. The World Health Organization recommends that you eat no more than 6 teaspoons a day of sugar (1). But the average North American is consuming 22 teaspoons of sugar a day which is a HUGE difference! There are hidden sugars in many of the popular foods and drinks that people eat every day, and it is affecting our health.

  • HEALTHY FOOD DOESN’T HAVE TO BE COMPLICATED: The stress of knowing what to cook, how to cook it, and knowing that it is actually providing your family’s bodies with nourishment and not empty calories; these things are worth their weight in gold as a mom. And I want this for you. I’ll show you how to do it in a simple way that’s realistic for your busy life.

My husband and I are actually both artists. I spent most of my twenties making handbags out of vintage leather jackets and selling them on etsy. And I actually my husband at an art market where we were both selling our work. But after we had our daughter, I switched to being a full-time mom and a couple years later, an integrative nutrition health coach.

I love to take a yoga class when I have free time. I started this when I realized I had postpartum depression - about 6 months after my daughter was born. Yoga saved me and helped me to explore what was happening during my PPD.

I love old records and play them daily on our vintage record player that used to be my husbands’ parents. I’m a big fan of Tom Petty, Fleetwood Mac, and 1960’s Cher records. My daughter dances to old Raffi records too!

I’d eat avocado toast for breakfast, lunch and dinner if I could. I would also eat an entire cake if it was put in front of me - I have no self-control for baked goods! So I try to give away at least half of my baking when I make new recipes for the blog. And if I’m not running after my daughter, or working on our two businesses, you can find me at home with a cup of tea binging mystery shows on Netflix.

If you want to connect with me elsewhere, I write a weekly newsletter all about healthy eating & simplifying mom life with easy steps. I’m also on Instagram sharing my days in motherhood, and on Facebook when I remember to be.

And lastly, I just want you to know that I’m here for you mama! Think of me like your virtual cheerleader. I’ll be rooting you on, every step of the way. Transitioning to a healthier lifestyle isn’t always easy. So I’m really glad you found my little space on the internet! I made it for women just like you!
